Additonal Thoughts on John Phillips

There was probably a Stephen who died before his parents with no heirs.[1]

Unproven with a DNA test, but John Phillips line should match Phillips DNA Group 5.

  1. Martha's notes: I suspect John had another son, Stephen. There was a Stephen who served in the Revolutionary War from this area. If this indeed was John's son, he probably died before his father with no heirs. As detailed as the Will was, John would have been left something by Will if he was still alive or had heirs. The name Stephen runs down several of John's lines. The same is true of a Spencer. There was also an early Stephen Witherington, but I am not sure he was of the same generation of John and Elizabeth or a generation earlier. Stephen does not appear to be a Phillips name in the previous generation.
