(Note: The 1785 Surry Co tax list of Capt. Lewis shows Abner Phillips with 400 acres, 1 white poll. The 1786 tax list of the same district show Abner Philips with 400 acres, 1 white poll, Elias Philips with 100 acres, 1 white poll, and Ephraim Philips with 1 white poll. The 1789 tax list of Capt. Philips shows only Abner Phillips with 400 acres, 2 white polls. The 1790 Surry Co census shows Abner Phillips with 2 WM 16+, 3 WM 16-, 3 WF. The 1800 Surry Co census shows Abner Philips with 2 WM 10-16, 1 WM 45+, 1 WF 16-26 and 1 WF 45+. There are loose estate papers at the NC archives. According to Rebecca Moon's rootsweb file, Abner Phillips was born 15 Sept 1737 in Hunterdon Co, NJ. His children included Ephraim, Cornelius, Prudence, Micajah, Abigail, Phillip, Sarah, George, Elizabeth and Rebecca. He is buried in the Greenwood Cemetery at Elkin, which is on the Yadkin River on the boundary between Surry Co and Yadkin Co. The Y-DNA of descendants of Abner match the Y-DNA of Phillips Family DNA Group 20.)
