Lenoir County was formed from Dobbs County in 1791. At this time, Dobbs was split into two counties, Lenoir, the southern half, Glasgow(now Greene) the northern half. This county can be associated with Phillips DNA Family Group 2 and Phillips DNA Family Group 5.
