James Quillian Rev War Pension Abstract

Declaration in State of GA, Habersham County 6 Nov 1832 personally appeared in open Court of the Ordinary..James Quillian, resident of said county of Habersham aged 75 years and 8 months..duly sworn....Drafted in Surry Co in the year he cannot personally recollect informed by Col. Martin Armstrong that any man who would hire a man to go for 3 years would have a discharge of duty for that time...this deponent hired James Branham and received from Major John Armstrong a discharge that he lived in Surry Co when drafted several times turned out on small tours of duty...few days never any large engagements thinks he was born in 1757..after the war removed to South Carolina and remained for some time then back to North Carolina..then Virginia then back to North Carolina then to Franklin Co., GA then to Habersham Co., GA and have resided there ever since claims his name is not on the pension rolls of any state .


Thomas Bird and Elijah Starr swore for above declaration that the above is 75 and that he is reputed and believed in the neighborhood where he lives to have been a soldier of the Revolution


Amendment to declaration 15 Aug 1833 has the time his substitute entered the service as 1777 .deponent was on one tour for ten days under Col. Armstrong as a guard after the Battle at King's Mountain..claim memory laps from old age


Power of Attorney County of Lumpkin, GA gives Alfred Harris, Esq.- POW in matter of arrears of Pension and land dated 2 Nov 1852 James Quillin Jr aged 59 years son of James Quillin Sr .statements of POW James Quillian(Quillin) Sr was a Rev War Soldier in State of NC. Died 1838 his mother Sarah Waggoner died 1805 they were married 4 Nov 1779 resided there 17 or 18 years and deponent resides in Franklin Co., GA


Mrs. EP Daniels in 1922 sought information on James Quillian claim R. 8551 for James Quillin or Quillian appears born March 1757 in NC .alleged drafted while in Surry Co..hired a substitute pension denied as he failed to provide proof of 6 months of service rest of letter restates all that is above EP Daniels claimed James Quillian of VA as her ancestor.
