Research

Abner Phillips b. 15 Sep 1737 in New Jersey, married Elizabeth (said by some to be a Phillips cousin) Abner died 18 Nov 1813 in Surry county, North Carolina. Some believe his brothers included Elias & Ezekiel. The only children explicitly named in Abner's Will were Cornelius and Philip, who was to give thirty dollars in trade to "each and every" of Abner's children except Cornelius after his wife's death.[1]

ix. Richard b. 15 Aug 1777 NC. He married Susannah Chambers. Richard died 6 Sep 1851 Marion county, TN.
  • Richard and Susannah Phillips had 14 children, including 3 sets of fraternal twins. His children were Rebecca, Elizabeth, Abner, Sarah, Ephraim, Margaret, James Fletcher, Mary, Gideon, William, Nancy, Prudence, Cornelius, and Richard. Some of the older ones were b. NC and KY, but most were b. TN. After Richard's death, his widow and children live in AL, TN, AR, and MO. A lot of these same given names reappear for the next couple of generations.
