Text of Record

Benjamin Phillips, James Phillips and Reuben Phillips signed a petition by the inhabitants of Anson Co requesting a division of Anson Co with the PeeDee River as the dividing line. The petition states that the court house now stands in ten or twelve miles of South Carolina and is extremely inconvenient.

Comments

(This is probably Reuben Phillips and two of his sons. Several rootsweb files claim that this Reuben Phillips was married to a woman named Sarah/Susan O’Bray and had sons named Benjamin, James, Kewis, Reuben Jr, Solomon, Thomas, Clemmons and Jonathan. Reuben Sr was supposedly the grandson of Thomas Phillips of Dorchester Co MD. Two descendants of Reuben and Sarah O’Bray has been DNA tested and their DNA matches that of Phillips Family DNA Group 2.)
